Hello, friends!
Sadie Nash Leadership Project believes that everyone has the right to be truly supported by a community--not only to survive, but to step into their power and share their gifts with the world.
I was fortunate to witness this firsthand when I worked directly with SNLP to bring their Sisterhood Academy program to my students at North Star Academy HS. The Sadie Nash facilitators created a safe and welcoming space for our students to explore their leadership skills, tackle social justice issues impacting their community, and decompress from the very stressful academic standards that they were held to at school. SNLP also encourages students to embrace self-care and mental wellness; multiple students in the program (called "Nashers") said that they were grateful for the space to express themselves freely and authentically, which was invaluable after the highly structured school day where they didn't always have the ability to do that. In fact, one of the Nashers' final projects was compiling mental wellness resources that they shared with the wider North Star community. It was a joy to witness, and I cannot advocate enough on behalf of SNLP--every staff member I met over my two years of working with them was passionate about fostering community and empowering young people to see themselves as leaders and changemakers.
